Pioneering neuropathy care

What is a polyneuropathy?

Polyneuropathies are generally chronic nerve diseases that can severely limit daily life. Numbness and balance disorders lead to an unsteady gait, and falls can be a consequence. At the same time, there may be restrictions in daily activities and sleep due to abnormal sensations such as tingling, burning, and pain. So far, there is no effective therapy to heal the damaged nerve structures.

Exercise therapy for polyneuropathy

Scientific studies, many conducted by our group, show that specific exercise therapy can be very helpful for polyneuropathies. This so-called sensorimotor training stimulates the nerves and leads to long-term positive adaptive responses at the level of the spinal cord and brain. Thus, the aforementioned abnormal sensations can be reduced, and balance can be improved. Pain decreases, and sleep is facilitated. At the same time, the exercises can also reduce the occurrence of polyneuropathy by up to 50%.

Most studies have been conducted on patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus and chemotherapy-induced polyneuropathy. However, it seems likely that all those affected by polyneuropathy could benefit from a training specifically tailored to their condition. And that is exactly our approach: specific exercise is medicine!

Digital exercise therapy

Our goal is to make this exercise program, which we have researched, accessible to all those affected. To achieve this, we have established the Neuropathy Excellence Center, where we apply our knowledge to your therapy. Over many years, we have gained valuable experience with hundreds of patients and want to share it with you. The first step towards broader care for those affected is the development of a digital therapy that you can easily use at home with minimal effort. All you need is a mobile phone, tablet, or computer. The exercises are simply structured and can be performed by anyone, regardless of how severely they are affected. Just 10 minutes of training a day is enough. Give it a try!

Development of a digital health application

In order to create a digital health application (DiGA) that truly meets the needs of those affected, we depend on your support. A DiGA is a digital therapy whose costs are covered by health insurance in Germany, so that everyone affected can benefit from it. You can help us by trying out our products on this exciting developmental journey and providing us with feedback. At the same time, we invite you to subscribe to our newsletter to stay informed about news and to participate in our informational events.

Here you will already find a couple of exercises that you can try at home. They are doable in only 10min per day. You should perform them at least twice a week but we advise you to integrate it into your daily routine up to 6 times a week.

We look forward to your feedback and thank you for your support!
